Applications Now Open for the Irish Tax Institute’s Third Level Scholarship

For Leaving Cert students with an interest in business, accounting or law and a desire to make a real impact, a career in Tax Advisory could be an exciting path. The Irish Tax Institute’s Third Level Scholarship - now open for applications until 1 May 2026 - offers financial and mentoring support.

The Scholarship is designed for Leaving Cert students who are interested in tax advisory and who require financial assistance to progress to college. Beyond financial aid, it offers long term support that can shape a student’s academic and professional future.

Sophie Hartigan, Third-Level Scholar 2025, shared:

“The scholarship lifted a huge financial weight for me and gave me the confidence to aim higher. The mentoring I received helped me settle into college and see a real future for myself in tax advisory.”

The successful 2026 Scholar will receive

  • financial assistance for living and study costs
  • a paid place on the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) programme after their degree
  • valuable ongoing mentoring

Eligibility and Requirements for Scholarship

Eligible students should expect to achieve 450+ Leaving Cert points and plan to study a relevant degree such as law, business, accounting, economics, finance or politics.

Applications must be nominated by a guidance counsellor, principal, or teacher, and include a recommendation letter and a 300 word profile written by the student.
