Former members of the Institute who wish to apply for re-admission to membership and existing Associate members and Fellow members who wish to use the “Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA)” designation are required to submit their application in accordance with the provisions contained in our Bye-Law No 5.

Applicants are also required to complete the confirmation form in order for their application for re-admission to membership or application to use the “Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA)” designation to be considered by our Professional Affairs Committee.

Applicants whom the Professional Affairs Committee has decided to re-admit or permit to use the “Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA)” designation must also pay a re-admission fee and may be required to complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The re-admission and re-application requirements depend on the category you fall into.

Re-admission of Former Associate and Fellow Members

Lapsed membership and wish to use CTA designation

  • Applicants whose Associate or Fellow membership has lapsed for less than five years must complete 20 hours Structured CPD to be determined at the discretion of the Professional Affairs Committee.
  • Applicants whose Associate or Fellow membership has lapsed for five years or more must undergo a compulsory assessment, to be determined at the discretion of the Professional Affairs Committee.

  • Applicants who have not completed the requisite CPD to qualify them for use of the “Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA)” designation for less than five years must complete 20 hours Structured CPD, to be determined at the discretion of the Professional Affairs Committee.
  • Applicants who have not completed the requisite CPD to qualify them for use of the “Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA)” designation for five years or more must undergo a compulsory assessment, to be determined at the discretion of the Professional Affairs Committee.

Re-admission of Former Tax Technician Members

Lapsed membership

  • Applicants whose Tax Technician membership has lapsed for less than five years, must complete 10 hours Structured CPD, to be determined at the discretion of the Professional Affairs Committee.
  • Applicants whose membership has lapsed for five years or more must undergo a compulsory assessment, to be determined at the discretion of the Professional Affairs Committee.
